Programs and Initiatives

AFRICON is an annual conference and cultural festival that serves as Amplify Africa’s flagship event. The multi-day conference brings together leaders in culture, entertainment, business, and innovation from the global Black Diaspora.[4]

The conference launched virtually in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic and transitioned to an in-person event in 2022.[6] The 2023 edition took place May 25-28 in Los Angeles, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of Africa Day.[7]
Past performers and speakers have included Adekunle Gold, Ayra Starr, Maphorisa, Darkoo, Asake, Jidenna, and Nomzamo Mbatha.[8]
The 2024 conference featured over 100 speakers and included panel discussions on topics such as artificial intelligence in the Black community, brand partnerships, and African entertainment.[9]
Corporate partners have included Disney+, Remitly, Afreximbank, YouTube, REVOLT, and The Shade Room.[10]
ICON Summit and ICON Network

The ICON Summit is an invitation-only gathering for executives and cultural leaders. In 2024, the summit was held at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills with programming on AI, partnerships, and cultural leadership.[11]
In 2025, Amplify Africa launched the ICON Network, a nonprofit initiative focused on mentorship and community programming. The network’s soft launch took place in Houston in partnership with AfroFuture and Martell.
Afrolituation is Amplify Africa’s recurring Afrobeats dance party series, first launched in 2015. The events have been held in multiple U.S. cities and have attracted attendance from entertainment industry figures including Def Jam chairman Tunji Balogun.[12]
The company reports having sold over 50,000 tickets worldwide and hosting over 200 events since inception.[13]
The Afro Ball is an annual gala celebrating African excellence and individuals who have contributed to amplifying African culture in the Diaspora. The inaugural event was held in 2018 at the Los Angeles Theater.[14]
The 2023 event took place at the Majestic in Los Angeles with approximately 400 attendees.[15]

Amplify Africa operates a creative agency division that produces cultural marketing campaigns and experiential events. The agency has worked with brands including Def Jam, Native Records, Disney+, YouTube Africa, Remitly, BET, Martell, Grey Goose, and Essence Ventures.
Notable projects include artist showcases, such as introducing Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck to the U.S. market through Def Jam and Native Records,[16]
[17] and cultural activations featuring artists like Adekunle Gold for Remitly.
The company produces digital content covering African identity, entrepreneurship, sports, and entertainment across social media platforms. This includes Africans in Sports, a platform focused on documenting African athletes globally.
Damilare Kujembola – Co-founder and CEO. Kujembola holds a Master’s degree in Entertainment Law from the University of Southern California and is a licensed lawyer in Nigeria.[18]
He was honored as one of the 100 Most Influential People of African Descent by the United Nations General Assembly and received commendation from the City of Los Angeles for his contributions to the African Diaspora.[19]
