Armando Nin (born October 28, 1986) is an American conceptual and abstract artist whose work spans painting, sculpture, and photography. He was born in the Lower East Side of New York City. His practice has been covered in several independent art publications, which have described his work in the context of contemporary painting and emerging New York–based artists.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Early life and education

[edit]

Nin was raised in New York City. He attended Pratt Institute between 2004 and 2006 and later studied at the Art Students League of New York from 2019 to 2023.

Nin’s work has been discussed in relation to contemporary abstraction, and experimental approaches to material. Art writers have described his practice as operating between painting and conceptual strategies, often noting his engagement with themes of environment, labor, and art history. Coverage in publications such as Dazed, Elephant, Airmail, and Office Magazine has examined his role within broader conversations about emerging artists working in New York and Vienna, where he is based.[1][2][3][4]

His work has also been referenced in international contexts, including critical writing related to group exhibitions and thematic explorations of graffiti and contemporary mark-making.[1][5]
