Leptoschendyla is a monotypic genus of soil centipede in the family Schendylidae. The only species in this genus is Leptoschendyla paucipes.[1][2][3] This centipede is found in Vietnam.[4] This species features 39 pairs of legs in both sexes and can reach 20 mm in length.[5][6]

Discovery and distribution

[edit]

This species was first described in 1953 by the Austrian myriapodologist Carl Attems.[5] He based the original description of this species on a sample of specimens including both sexes.[6] These specimens were collected in Lang Biang on the Đà Lạt plateau in the province of Lâm Đồng in Vietnam.[5][7] Syntypes including one male and one female are deposited in the Natural History Museum in Vienna.[6] This species is known only from Vietnam.[7]
