Early Life

Grey was born on July 15, 2005 in Provo, Utah and was raised in Collinsville, Texas. They grew up in a practicing Latter-day Saint household. As a child, Grey already showed interest in activism and acceptance, participating in Kindness and Compassion club, an organization with the goal of spreading kindness throughout the school. They moved to Sherman, Texas in 2018. In 2020, they came out as bisexual, and came out as nonbinary the following year. They now identify as queer and transgender.

Education

Grey simultaneously graduated from Sherman High School and Grayson College at age 17, after completing a dual enrollment program. They earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Southern New Hampshire University in 2025, with a career focus on promoting literacy. “Looking ahead,” Grey says, “I plan to continue my studies with the ultimate goal of fostering inclusive spaces that encourage open access to diverse information while fighting against censorship. Additionally, I hope to expand my advocacy efforts, both online and in my professional career, to create more inclusive environments for marginalized communities.”[1]

Activism

Grey has advocated for queer Mormons since they came out as bisexual in 2020. They were an active member of their high school’s Gender and Sexuality Alliance, and served as president for two years. They were also involved in their school’s Hope Squad, an organization aimed to provide peer-to-peer suicide prevention programs.[2]

In 2022, Grey was selected as one of five youth ambassadors for Beloved Arise, a organization dedicated to helping queer youth of faith.[3] Grey used this oppurtunity to publicly speak out about the challenges they face as a queer and transgender individual in a historically conservative religious tradition.[4]

During their time with Beloved Arise, Grey was chosen for Good Morning America’s Inspiration List among LGBTQ+ youth who are making change. Grey discussed how important both identities are to them, stating “For me, my faith exists because of my queer identity, and my identity exists because of my faith…one could not exist without the other. My faith is queer, and my queer identity is faithful.”[5]
They were also part of GLAAD’s 20 Under 20 class of honorees.[6][7] Grey emphasizes that queer people of faith should not have to choose between their religious identity and LGBTQ+ identity. They advocate for visibility, support, and acceptance within both church and secular spaces.[8]
