Swiss guitarist, composer and music producer

Musical artist

Syndrone is the stage name of Marco Puglisi, a Swiss guitarist, composer and music producer based in Basel, Switzerland.[1] He has released two instrumental albums, Chaos Mechanics (2018) and Neogenesis (2022), both characterized by technical shred playing combined with melodic progressive metal elements.[2][1] In 2019, he was selected as a top three finalist in the Guitarist of the Year competition.[3] Since 2025, he has collaborated with former DragonForce vocalist ZP Theart.[4]

Early career and solo albums

[edit]

Syndrone released his debut instrumental album Chaos Mechanics in 2018, featuring guest solos from Paul Wardingham and Keegan Donovan.[5] His second album, Neogenesis, was released on February 22, 2022, and features guest appearances by Andy Gillion on the track “Android God Revolution” and Tramaine on “Doomsday Apocalypse”.[1][2] Both albums were entirely self-produced at his own studio in Basel.[1]

Guitarist of the Year 2019

[edit]

In 2019, Syndrone was selected as one of the top three finalists in the Guitarist of the Year competition, organized by Guitar World, MusicRadar, and other guitar publications.[3] His playing was judged by John Petrucci, Steve Lukather, and Tosin Abasi, who awarded him top scores across all judging categories: technicality, originality, musicality, and feel.[3]

Shred Collab appearances

[edit]

Syndrone has been a recurring participant in guitarist Jared Dines‘ annual “Biggest Shred Collab Song in the World” video series, appearing in the fifth (2022) and sixth (2023) installments alongside artists such as Matt Heafy (Trivium), Herman Li (DragonForce), Nita Strauss, and Michael Angelo Batio.[6][7]

Collaboration with ZP Theart

[edit]

In 2025, Syndrone began collaborating with former DragonForce and Skid Row vocalist ZP Theart. Their first release, “Dark to Light”, was released on December 12, 2025, marking Theart’s first solo single in 13 years.[4] Theart described the collaboration: “I’ve been collaborating with the ridiculously talented Swiss writer and producer Syndrone and it has opened the door to a sound I’ve been wanting to explore for a long time.”[4]

On January 9, 2026, they released a reimagined version of DragonForce‘s “Through the Fire and Flames” to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the album Inhuman Rampage. The track features Syndrone on production and core instrumentation, with additional guitar solos by Sophie Burrell and Bradley Hall.[8]

Syndrone uses a custom-made Waghorn Corax seven-string guitar equipped with a Bare Knuckle Cold Sweat humbucker in the bridge position, paired with a custom boost pedal and a Fractal Audio Axe-Fx III amp modeler.[1]
