The Wild Cooperative (Chinese: 野外合作社, pinyin: yě wài hé zuò shè) is an indie rock band from Nanjing, formed in 2012. The group is known for lyrics with poetic and philosophical themes and for musical influences that include Pink Floyd, blues, and classical music.[1][2]
The band has released three studio albums. Their first, self-titled album The Wild Cooperative (野外合作社) came out in 2013. In 2018 they put out Bull’s Eye (台风), a concept album that got a lot of attention in Chinese indie circles for its ambitious production and satirical lyrics.[2][3]
In 2020, the band went through a lineup change after dismissing founding guitarist Liu Yao over controversial social media posts, an event that was covered internationally.[4] They continued as a five-piece and released the instrumental album Homeless in September 2023.[5]
