The film “Vista Village” unfolds with the arrival of two women from opposite ends of India, converging upon the quaint village of Enmakaje Panchayat in Kasargod, a border district between Kerala and Karnataka. Against the backdrop of this culturally rich and linguistically diverse region known as “Saptabhasha Sangama Bhoomi,” they become entangled in distinct social dilemmas that catalyse profound historical shifts.

Sujatha Menon, a resolute village officer transferred from Thiruvananthapuram, takes charge of a longstanding community issue, steadfast in her mission to bring about transformation. Simultaneously, Dyuti Daniel, a woman with Indian ancestry but foreign origins, arrives under mysterious circumstances, arousing suspicion among the locals who are perplexed by her presence.

The core of the movie is its honest portrayal of the soul of a small village in Kasargod Kerala. Inspired by a real incident, it reflects the controversy surrounding the renaming of the village years ago. The old name, though rooted in Kannada—the predominant language of neighbouring Karnataka was perceived as an abusive term in Malayalam . Acknowledging the cultural sensitivity, the government officially changed it. This powerful backdrop not only drives the narrative but is also expected to ignite deep conversations after the film’s release.
