Tanzanian politician
Feetham Filipo Banyikwa, (October 10 1947) is a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly of Tanzania.[1]
Born in Banyikwa, Tanzania, he spent his professional life supporting and helping his nation’s citizens, and has a background in both law and politics.[2] He has an academic background in botany/biology. He has worked as a lecturer and Head of Department at The University of Dar es Salaam. He is affiliated with Chama cha Mapinduzi.
EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
He completed his PhD at The University of Dar es Salaam. His doctoral thesis was titles, ‘A quantitative study of the ecology of the Serengeti short grasslands’. In this work he studies soil factors (salinity, alkalinity, pH) species diversity, grassland structure and function and how topography and rainfall affect the Serengeti short grasslands ecosystem.
ACADEMIC AND SCHOLARLY WORK
He was a Fulbright visiting scholar (1985) under a project titled, strategies and mechanisms of biological competition in plants. He has been involved in research on ecological/biological topics. For example his name appears among co-authors of a paper on determinants of woody covers in African savannas.
POLITICAL CAREER
He served as MP for Ngara constituency (between 2005 and 2010).
