Lateral with Tom Scott is a comedy quiz podcast hosted by Tom Scott and produced by David Bodycombe. The show was performed live, and has had a book written about it. It was inspired by QI and a previous game show Scott had created.
Lateral was originally the title of a 2018 six-episode game show on Scott’s main YouTube channel, one of several game show concepts co-developed with David Bodycombe.[1] Scott stated in an interview with IGN that the show was inspired by QI.[2]
In 2022, a revival of Lateral was announced.[3][4] Scott has continued hosting the podcast into 2024 despite indefinitely pausing his weekly YouTube release schedule.[1][5] The podcast is produced by Bodycombe.[6]
In November 2024, the Lateral puzzle book was released. The book contains questions and clues from the podcast so fans can play their own version of the game.[7] It was published by Pan Books, after the publishing house won a three way auction for the book.[8]
The show was performed live at the 2024 Cheerful Earful podcast festival,[9] and again in 2025.[10]
