Upcoming 2027 video game

2027 video game

Mega Man: Dual Override[a] is an upcoming 2027 actionplatform game developed and published by Capcom. The game is the 12th main entry in the original Mega Man series, following Mega Man 11 (2018) nearly 10 years later, making for the longest gap between Mega Man games, and the second-longest gap without a mainline classic entry.

Like prior games in the series, Mega Man: Dual Override follows Mega Man, and features 2D platforming and battling, as he tries to defeat the villain Dr. Wily. Capcom describes the game with “Mega Man returns in 2027 with a brand-new entry in the classic action platforming series! Override challenges and blast down legions of robots while springboarding across a new array of futuristic frontiers!”[1][2]

In December 2025, Capcom stated that they wanted to regrow Mega Man back into being one of their “core IPs“.[3] Later that week, Mega Man: Dual Override was announced at The Game Awards 2025, where a gameplay trailer was shown, which ended by revealing that the game is slated for 2027.[1][2] IGN writer Michael Cripe described the trailer as showcasing “promising vibrant visuals”.[1]

Robot Master contest

[edit]

Alongside the announcement, Capcom started a Robot Master design contest, where fans are able to submit their ideas for a boss; the event will have 6 winners, one of which being the “grand-prize winner” that is implemented into the game.[1] This type of event was formerly done for early classic Mega Man games, and some Mega Man Battle Network entries.[4]
