The photo of Paraisópolis and a luxury building in Morumbi is a photograph taken in 2004 by Brazilian photographer Tuca Vieira and which shows from a privileged angle the meeting between Paraisópolis, the second largest favela in the city, and the wealthy neighborhood of Morumbi. In the image, it is possible to see on one side a luxurious building, Edifício Penthouse, with tennis courts and swimming pools on the balconies of the apartments; on the other, hundreds of masonry shacks, typical of a Brazilian favela. The photograph received worldwide attention and was exhibited at the Tate Modern museum in London. The photo came to symbolize the social inequality between rich and poor in São Paulo.[1][2]
