::Yes i know. I just said this i tried to search about what the name could actually mean it is said that it comes from Kurdish but i searched up it doesn’t necessarily mean something in Kurdish, the original name could be something different in Kurdish that evolves to Birimse or it could be an Armenian,Greek or a Turkish word but again there isn’t something close to Birimşe. Some locals call it Birimşah(a villager documentary on youtube) which means “Birim” “my one and only”in Turkish and then “şah” means ruler in Persian that is also adopted by the Turks but again this doesn’t give us a fully explonation about what the village actually means cause why would a village be named “My one and only ruler”?right? i am just here to show what i have found about this village name in origin. Not to add something to the table. [[User:TurcoMarco|TurcoMarco]] ([[User talk:TurcoMarco|talk]]) 14:53, 21 December 2025 (UTC) |

The given source “Binemal û hozên li herêma Semsûrê” is a very recent book written and does not reflect the reality is not reliable. It should not be put in an official part of any article. Also stop putting “This place has Kurdish majority” on top of the article it does not belong on the top of it. And it is not true, and even if it was it does not belong in this article. I have many relatives from there, regardless of their background and mixedness with other groups they all identify as Turkish, some of them live in Malatya,Ankara or other parts of Turkey and have been cultureally closer to Turkish people in centuries. Im partially from this village to, and i personally identify as Turkish regardless of the background of this village and including me most of my relatives from this village also identifies as Turkish, there are even Kemalists and Turkish nationalists from this village that i know.
What i mean is that identitt is fluid and not everyone is the way that you describe them as. Ziya99 (talk) 12:15, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- Oncu writes its a Reşwan village and we expand Wikipedia based on reliable references. Semsûrî (talk) 14:50, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- I dont know who that man is, however i do now that ethnicity is a social constuct and it doesn’t depend on what one person says. Nowadays most of them live in Malatya anyway, thats why i believe they became Turkish overtime. They either mixed with the Turks of Malatya, which is the case for my family or they adopted the Turkish identity here thats the case for some people that i know. But this happens outside of the village so i dont know if it counts Ziya99 (talk) 15:04, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
The word “Birimşe” comes from old name of violet, in Ottoman Turkish which is “Banefşe” which turned into “Menekşe” in modern day Turkish. The Yarpuz plant that gives its name to current name of the village, here looks like a violet. “Benefşe” comes from a Greek word to Turkish, there is also a Benefshe village in Greece too its a lovely place! This places which Greeks used to inhabit Greeks before Turkic,Arabic and Islamic conquests. It makes sense it turned into Birimşe from “Benefshe” Later on to the word Benefshe was replaced with menekshe and the name of this village was already changed by that but benefshe is still used by the Turks in the area.
There isn’t an official claim that i can give you but this explonation is made by the locals. Im hoping to see what thers describes it as 🙂 TurcoMarco (talk) 14:37, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
