hi – i think it would be pretty useful to have a subregion (& corresponding population etc.) parameter, or some kind of smoother way to convey that information. for e.g. Lezgins, we have a Russia-wide population count, as well as a Dagestan-specific population, and it’s manually using bullet points, which is pretty clumsy and unwieldy – i’ve seen this on quite a few ethnic group articles, especially groups in Russia & other large diverse countries. any thoughts on a better way to do this? sawyer * he/they * talk 01:29, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That could be doable, I’ll try something in the sandbox! Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 04:41, 13 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It’s been implemented in Template:Infobox ethnic group/sandbox, you can use |subregionN instead of |regionN to indicate a subregion, they should show up indented and in italics (cf. Template:Infobox ethnic group/testcases#Lezgins for an example). Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 06:14, 13 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Done, I presume that the lack of objections until the suggestion was archived is enough, as this will not affect existing template calls and only adds new parameters. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 07:54, 13 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Chaotic Enby minor thing, could you make it so that the numbers aren’t displayed in italics, just the subregion name? sawyer * any/all * talk 15:06, 29 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Kindly remove the blank line after “noinclude” at the very bottom of the template code. fgnievinski (talk) 16:14, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I don’t see any excess whitespace. You are welcome to demonstrate your proposed edit in the sandbox, which I have synced with the live template. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:24, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I don’t have permission to change this template, but could some fix the unnecessary capitalized N in region in e.g., a list of regions (countries), especially if regionN etc below not used? Thanks! Yuchitown (talk) 23:01, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Eliminating the extra N would be the goal (it is a typo), but the template is protected. “This page is currently protected so that only template editors and administrators can edit it.” Yuchitown (talk) 16:55, 29 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
