Don Aviv is an American security executive and public safety commentator. He is the chief executive officer of Interfor International, a New York–based investigative and security advisory firm. Aviv has been cited and interviewed by major news organizations including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, CBS News, The Washington Post, Business Insider, and Newsweek on issues related to terrorism prevention, executive protection, and public-space security.[1][2]

Aviv serves as chief executive officer of Interfor International, a firm that provides investigative, intelligence, and security advisory services to corporate and institutional clients. In that role, he has overseen work related to executive security, threat monitoring, and assessments of risks to public and private spaces.[3]

In 2019, Interfor conducted a confidential security assessment for the French Quarter Management District in New Orleans. The report warned that the area was vulnerable to vehicular-ramming attacks and that existing vehicle barriers “did not appear to work,” recommending immediate remediation.[4]

Following the January 1, 2025 vehicle-ramming attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Aviv was cited by multiple national news outlets discussing whether improved security measures could have mitigated the attack.[5]

In The New York Times, Aviv described the French Quarter as “the perfect target” for a vehicular attack, citing dense pedestrian traffic and limited access controls.[6]

Aviv has also appeared on CNN and ABC News programs to discuss terrorism preparedness, physical security barriers, and the challenges of protecting high-traffic public spaces.[7]

Aviv’s commentary on security and risk management has been featured in a range of national media outlets. In The Washington Post, he was cited in reporting on how corporations have expanded workplace security measures following high-profile shootings, noting that online threat-monitoring work at Interfor International had tripled annually since 2020.[8]

He has also been quoted by Business Insider regarding increased demand for executive and lobby security services in response to workplace violence concerns.[9]

Aviv has authored opinion pieces on national security, terrorism, ideological violence, political risk, and investigative due diligence in national publications including The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, and The Hill.[10][11]

Notable opinion pieces include:

  • The Hill — “We’re in an era of ideological violence, and it’s only getting worse” (2025)
  • The Hill — “How the spectacle of Palestinian terrorism changed the world” (2024)
  • The Hill — “We can, and likely will, see another George Santos if nothing changes” (2023)
  • The Hill — “The Steele dossier has always been misunderstood” (2022)
