Hey I think I’m about to get into an edit war. I want to compromise. How do I stop it or can you or someone else intervene —Gopackgo009 (talk) 19:33, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Start with the article’s talk page. If that doesn’t work, visit Wikipedia:Edit warring. Fuddle (talk) 19:36, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What is the procedure for the acceptance of an edit? —Jrfrog**11 (talk) 03:29, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Most edits are accepted automatically. There are some high-traffic pages with a lock symbol in the upper right-hand corner (e.g. Donald Trump) that may give messages or warnings, but they are rare. Fuddle (talk) 13:12, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What would be the issue if an edit was made but it never showed up on the page? Jrfrog**11 (talk) 19:05, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Did you get a message saying it was being moderated? Which article? Fuddle (talk) 22:44, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I attempted to add a URL to the EXTERNAL LINKS listing for the article on YURTS. Although I added this several times as an edit, it never seemed to “take” and still does not show up. I have received no message or notification regarding this. I thought maybe there was a delay for review. Jrfrog**11 (talk) 23:01, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm, I’ve never heard of this problem before. Try allowing popups and cookies, and turn off a VPN if you’re using one. If that doesn’t help, post a question here: Wikipedia:Village pump (technical). Fuddle (talk) 23:55, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Well, then there’s always the possibility that I didn’t do it *correctly* if there is ever an issue of sticking a reference at the end of someone else’s article, or of even not following the right steps to submit that type of edit in the first place(?) Jrfrog**11 (talk) 00:00, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You should be able to add complete nonsense. The software doesn’t check for content. Fuddle (talk) 00:56, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, I just entered it again and it won’t stay put.

Hi Fuddle,

I’m Lee, and I’m new to editing Wikipedia.

I’d like to create or edit an article related to a recent literary scandal in China. A blogger has alleged that many well-known contemporary Chinese writers have engaged in plagiarism. According to the blogger’s analysis, the similarities are extensive, involving works by both Chinese and international authors, including Albert Camus, Charlotte Brontë, and Gabriel García Márquez.

However, the issue is that most of the available evidence comes from social media posts where the blogger used comparison software to highlight the similarities. So far, official institutions have remained silent, and I’ve found very limited coverage in reliable published sources.

I want to make sure I handle this correctly on Wikipedia. My intention is to document the event neutrally and accurately, possibly as part of a broader discussion about literary plagiarism in China. But I’m unsure how to manage the references and reliability issues when most of the information originates from social media.

Do you have any suggestions or best practices for how I could approach this topic responsibly?

Thank you so much for your time and guidance!

That’s tough. You may have to wait until it gets more coverage. Check out this page: Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Fuddle (talk) 22:46, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
