Information icon Hello, I’m Monkeysmashingkeyboards. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to University Park, Maryland have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. Take a look at our guidelines about external links. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. monkeysmashingkeyboards (talk) 20:50, 18 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This makes sense and I appreciate the information. This doesn’t apply to you, but is it normal for Wikipedia editors to be rude and condescending? I’m referring to something I just read. Lkmorrisseyndu (talk) 20:25, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I presume you’re talking about my response to you on the Helpdesk, to which I’ll say; your response to polite advice about how difficult of a task article creation is for a newcomer and how it’s strongly recommended that you hang around Wikipedia for a while doing other things before you undertake it was to say what amounts to “I don’t have time for any of that, I’ve been asked to create an article and I’m just here to post that one article” then I’m going to respond in kind.
Conflict of interest editing is unpopular on Wikipedia at the best of times. The bare minimum for participation here normally is that we expect people to be here to build an encyclopedia, which people editing with a conflict of interest aren’t. Now, that can be offset somewhat if those people are polite and trying to act with respect for Wikipedia despite their aim largely being at odds with it, and so we’re all willing to help those people try to succeed. If you’re going to barge in with a sense of entitlement and force the rest of us to spend our time helping you and reviewing your hastily slapped-together snowball of a draft because you don’t have any time or respect to even attempt to engage with Wikipedia properly, what do you expect? We’re all volunteers here, your lack of effort and respect is a direct detriment to the rest of us. If you can’t respect me and my time, why would I respect you and yours? It’s astounding that you think your message was “polite advice.” My brief comment about not having time didn’t describe the time I spent reading the guidance about posting articles in the past week. I will not respond in kind to your uncivil comments, but I didn’t “barge in” or hastily slap together my draft. But, message received. Please do not write to me again. If you intend to try to improve your draft and re-submit it for review, you’re going to need to disclose your conflict of interest according to the relevant policy. Make sure to specifically disclose that it’s a paid editing arrangement if indeed it is. You should also read Help:Your first article for some general article-writing tips, as well as the referencing guide that the reviewer pointed you to in their decline notice. Athanelar (talk) 21:01, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In the interest of transparency, I’ll also note that if you think my behaviour constitutes a breach of civility/NPA to the extent that you think an admin should do something about it, the place to make a report would be WP:ANI. Athanelar (talk) 21:05, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Bobby Cohn was:

Thank for this information and for your professional reply. Some of the others I’ve received today were incredibly condescending and, in my opinion, violated the following term of use of Wikipedia:

  • Civility — You support a civil environment and do not harass other users.
There were uncivil comments in a few other messages I was sent. I’ll delete my draft. Lkmorrisseyndu (talk) 20:47, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
