Wikipedia and Copyright
Hello Pbergabo! Your additions to :Draft:Jacob Bartlett have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license—”to request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission”. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it’s important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:

*”’Limited quotation:”’ You may only copy or translate a ”small” portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (“) and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.

*”’Paraphrasing:”’ Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information ”in your own words”. Following the source’s wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.

*”’Image use guidelines:”’ In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file’s eligibility.

*”’Copyrighted material donation:”’ If ”you” hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you ”may” be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.

*”’Copying and translation within Wikipedia:”’ Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation.

It’s very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. <!– Template:uw-copyright-new –> NeoGaze (talk) 19:37, 23 November 2025 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Peter Vermes Applauding Fans.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia’s policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don’t indicate the copyright status of the image on the image’s description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like PD-self (to release all rights), cc-by-sa-4.0 (to require that you be credited), or any tag here – just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image’s page. —MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 17:45, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, website, or role, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

 1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
 2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
 3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
 4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text Your proposed new username at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text “Your proposed new username” with your new username and replace the text “Your reason here” with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you’d like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text “Your reason here” with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Mfield (Oi!) 18:38, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

We don’t have “informational pages” here, as Wikipedia is not for merely providing information. Wikipedia is composed of articles, which are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the topic. You should tell about your players and staff on your team website(which I presume you do already). Wikipedia articles summarize what independent reliable sources say about a topic- not necessarily what they themselves or their associates/employer says about them. While in the past merely being on a professional team merited an athlete/coach an article, that is no longer the case; athletes/coaches are treated like any other person(see WP:ATHLETE); they must receive significant coverage in independent reliable sources– not just information from the team(not an independent source) or statistics(not significant coverage). Athletes/coaches often receive such coverage, but not always.

All that said, you did correctly submit a draft about one of your players. However, you failed to make the Terms of Use required paid editing disclosure. I could be wrong, but I think all that the blocking admin(@Mfield:) is looking for is a rename and agreement to abide by the paid editing policy. I will carry out the rename. 331dot (talk) 19:56, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That’s correct, it was necessary to force name change and the disclosure. Once that is complete, can be unblocked. Mfield (Oi!) 20:01, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you – my apologies, I was unaware of the paid editing disclosure. Is there anything else I need to do to be unblocked other than inform you that I agree to abide by the paid editing policy? Pbergabo (talk) 20:41, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution_disclosure#How_to_disclose, that one section espcially, but the whole page is relevant reading. The simplest method is to place the appropriately filled template on your userpage. Else you would need to agree to disclose separately on any related article talk page etc, or in each edit summary which is obviously more onerous if you are editing multiple pages. Sounds good. It appears I cannot edit my user page since I am still blocked from editing.

I have unblocked your account, please place the template on your userpage now and happy editing. Mfield (Oi!) 21:01, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, appreciate your guidance and patience. Pbergabo (talk) 21:17, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
