Born on 31st October, Singer / Model / Actor – Daham Kandanarrachchi is the son of the famous singer Chandrakumara Kandanarrachchi whose hit songs such as Ege Sinahawa thahanam, Pembande Sithbande, Nelum Wile Kalum Pera.. and countless others have captured the hearts of millions of people both in Sri Lanka and abroad spanning a 38 year music career. Daham schooled at Wycherley International Colombo where his singing abilities and acting talents started to emerge at the early age of 8, taking part in numerous School dramas and musical concerts. He then at the age of 9 made a collaborative effort with his father and sang the backup vocals for his song Pinnochio in 1995. Daham is also a very talented artist; he had his own public art exhibition at the mere age of 7. He also studied speech and drama under the Wendy Whatmore Academy, and was involved in many sports such as basketball, tennis and cricket as well.

It was after completing his education that he was discovered by advertising agencies for his unique looks and incredible height where they knew he had what it takes to become a famous actor. Thus was taken into many Television/Press Advertising campaigns as a model for Clothing and telecommunication advertisements such as Mobitel , Hameedias ect. where he has done many commercials for. He was the leading role for two special Mobitel Double M TV commercials which were directed by renowned Indian director Kotu who’s worked with the likes of Aishwaraya Rai and Sachin Tendulkar as well. Daham is also known for acting in his father’s famous song Pembane Sithbande music video where he took on the supporting role; he is also a talented dancer and has won many competitions as well. The Kandanarrachchi family has been on many television interviews, where Daham spoke of his modeling and acting endeavors and revealed that he would be continuing his father’s legacy as a singer.

It was in the Beginning of 2009 where he released 2 singles Hanguman and Daathata. Hanguman being the follow up song to his father’s popular song Ege Sinahawa thahanam. Daathata being a redone remixed version of his father’s 1975 classic. Which shot up to No.1 within a one and a half weeks release on top 20 charts in Sri Lanka.“ I want to make a positive impact on every industry I work in, and also contribute to retaining the essence of true Sri Lankan music as well as add my own touch!” says Daham who is taking on several challenging roads in this trade to make that difference.
