Formation (2019-2023)
Structural Defect was started by Aric MacDonald in late 2019, and had several songs written, and after putting a band together to perform the songs, which consisted of Aric’s brother, Dan (also known as Gus) on Bass, Mike Marion on Drums, and eventually Damon Finegan II and Mitch Markowitz on Rhythm and Lead Guitar, respectively. At sometime in 2020, the band started going by Death:Exhaled.
The band slowly dissolved over the course of 2021 due to the stresses of COVID-19 as well as creative differences, leaving vocalist Aric and guitarist Damon as the remaining duo to continue the project. Damon formed Fractured Fortune in August 2021, and put the majority of his focus into that, while still occasionally working on music with Aric, though this music was not considered a part of Structural, and the project had been deemed defunct in 2022.
Return, new lineup, Heavy Hands (2023-Present)
Upon having written upwards of 15 songs on his own, Aric came to Damon in late 2023, with the hopes of having him produce the material. Damon not only agreed, but also offered to help with playing Bass live. They then ultimately wrote another few, bringing the total to over 20 songs, but cut down 11 and decided to release a full-length album.
After Fractured Fortune went on hiatus in 2024, Damon and Aric restarted the project full-time, now going by Structural Defect, an homage to the Static-X song, and this time with Damon on Bass and Backing Vocals. In November 2024, they brought in Clark Dasson to perform keyboards and clean vocals for the project, and in early 2025, drummer Mike Marion rejoined full-time.
On June 17th, the band announced their first single, “Become Death”, which was released on July 11th. Clark was let go from the band on July 29th following several months of being unable to contact him, and at the same time Damon reverted to Lead and Rhythm Guitars.
On September 5th, the band announced their second single alongside a teaser, entitled “Don’t Hug Me (I Hate You)”, which was released a week later.
On November 7th, the band announced the addition two new members, in bassist John Logan, and rhythm guitarist and clean vocalist James Kunz, thus completing the band’s lineup for the first time since 2020. On the same day, the band also announced that they will be releasing a new single on December 5th via a teaser. On November 21st, the single was officially announced, titled “CULTURE VULTURE”. The following day, on December 6th, the band announced via a Facebook livestream the full track listing for it’s debut album, titled “Heavy Hands”, scheduled for release on January 30th, 2026.

“Heavy Hands” is the debut studio album by Structural Defect.
Overview:
Structural Defect was started by Aric MacDonald in late 2019, and had several songs written, and after putting a band together in 2020, to perform the songs, the band slowly dissolved over the course of 2021 due to COVID-19, as well as creative and personal differences, leaving Aric and guitarist Damon Finegan as the remaining duo to continue the project. Damon formed Fractured Fortune in August 2021, and put majority focus into that, while still occasionally working on music with Aric. After Fractured Fortune went defunct in 2024, Damon came back to Structural Defect full-time, and the band was slowly rebuilt as Damon and Aric finished the music’s recording and production, with their first new members since 2021, Bassist John Logan and Guitarist James Kunz, and the return of Mike Marion on drums.
Writing Process:
Aric had most of the songs started or finished before approaching Damon with the music during his time with Fractured Fortune, and gave Damon freedom to change or tweak the parts as needed to fit the songs, if not write new material entirely. Songs such as “Become Death”, had the guitars written by Damon after Aric sent a demo with reference sections over drums he wanted to use for the song.
“CULTURE VULTURE” was a song written by Aric sometime in 2021, during their later time as Death:Exhaled, and has seen several re-writes with Damon, including several lyric changes, with the only original part of the song being the song’s main/chorus riff.
“Don’t Hug Me (I Hate You)” was a song written with the intention of bringing the electronic elements of the band’s sound to the forefront, while also not sacrificing the heavier tone the rest of the songs have.
Mike Dennies and Aric wrote “Scorched” sometime in 2023, before the full-time restart of the band had materialized. The song was meant to be a one-off track with a guest writer/performer, and not meant to be a major part of the band’s sound, as is “The Demon Seed of Davy Jones”, which was written by Damon as a way to pay homage to his former band, Fractured Fortune, while also focusing on a more production-heavy song. The band has also stated that they have no intention of playing the songs live, though they could pull them out as needed.

Formation (2021-2022)
In August of 2021, Damon Finegan was on hiatus with Structural Defect, and was looking to start a project of his own, following more in the lines of Ice Nine Kills and Of Mice & Men. He put an ad on Craigslist, looking for a band or members to start a project with. Guitarist Brendan Curtis replied, with Brendan later recruiting his friend and drummer Kevin Roelle to the fold, completing the band’s initial lineup with Damon performing Bass and Lead Vocals, and the trio would begin to work on writing songs together. The band at this time had started going by Falling Face First.
In late May of 2022, the band had announced it would be partaking in its first live performance in September, alongside Invictra, though details for the show were not finalized until July. At this time, Kevin would quietly leave the band to focus on college, leaving the band a duo of Damon and Brendan.
On June 13th, 2022, the duo announced both the joining of their third member, Dante Lebron, as well as their Debut single, “Creatures of Habit”, which would be released on June 17th. A day later, on June 14th, the band announced they were renaming, now going by Fractured Fortune. During this time, they had also recruited Robert Riepe, also known as Robby Rabbit, to assist live with bass guitar and backing vocals, so Damon could focus on Vocals and occasionally adding rhythm guitar live. Robert was never made an official member of the band.
Never Trust The Living EP, lineup changes (2022-2024)
On July 29th, 2022, the band announced a 2nd show for September 23rd, alongside Gainer, Anthropic, Stone Thrower, and An Easy Death.
On October 2nd, 2022, the band announced both a new single, “Cruella de Vil”, which was set to release on October 28th, 2022, as well as announcing their Debut EP, “Never Trust The Living”, set to release on December 16th, 2022.
The band then announced 3 shows for 2023, One on February 3rd, as co-headliner alongside The Kamilsons, one for March 9th, opening for Awake at Last and Versus Me, and one April 29th, alongside Gainer and several others, then later announced they had accepted a 4th show, opening for Inferi on May 21st. On June 10th, 2023, the band announced a new member, bassist Zack Day, as well as the return of Kevin Roelle, this time as guitarist. In the same post, they also announced that Brendan would be stepping down after their next show from his role after 2 years to join Glasswaves, and that Damon would be taking over Brendan’s role full-time as lead guitarist, while still remaining involved vocally. Brendan’s last show with the band was August 4th, 2023.
Throughout late August and early September, the band then began teasing a “new era” of the band, with a logo change and several teases about their new singer, who was going to debut with them at their show on September 16th.
On September 17th, 2023, the day after their first show as a quintet, it was announced that Andrew Laffan would be filling the empty role of Lead Vocals, as well as providing Pianos and Keyboards. They also teased that new music involving Andrew would be coming in the near future.
Further Exposure and Hiatus (2024-2026)
After playing 2 more shows to finish out 2023, on February 16th, 2024, the band released their first single as a quintet, titled “Malevolence”, and featured Justin Williamson from INVERITY providing Clean Vocals. To coincide with the release of the song, Damon announced that given the eventual birth of his son in May of that year, he would be taking a short hiatus from the band at that point to spend time with him, though this was not to be a full-time departure, and he would still appear on their upcoming releases.
On August 16th, 2024, the band played their final show, after which Zack, Dante, Kevin and Andrew all left the band, citing creative differences as the main reason. Damon then announced the following day that the band would be on hiatus due to “choices I made that led to the separation of this band”, but would look to return to release music in 2025. Fractured Fortune would instead stay on hiatus throughout 2025 and into 2026 as Damon focused on his other project, Structural Defect, which released an album in January 2026.
Self-titled EP, Official Disbandment, Never Trust The Living re-issue (2026)
On June 10th, 2026, a video of the former lineups shattering followed by a redesigned logo was posted to the band’s social media accounts, hinting at a return. Following a few more teases throughout July, on July 31st, 2026, the band released their first new music since “Malevolence”, a self-titled song. Along with the surprise release, the band also their 2nd EP, which is self titled, with Damon performing all instruments and vocals on the EP. In the announcement of the EP, Damon announced that upon the release of the EP, the project would officially be disbanded, though he left the door open to return with a proper lineup in the future. A week before the EP release, the band released a cover of the song “Anemia” by Sincere Engineer. Damon then briefly returned to the project in December of 2027 to release an official re-recording of the band’s first EP, with all-new recordings across the board.
Return, Debut Album (2028-Present)
On August 1st, 2028, the band made a surprise return, debuting a new single, entitled “Abdicate”. Alongside the announcement, the band announced a new lineup, consisting of Damon returning to his original role of Bass Guitar, Vocals and Programming, alongside ____. On October 27th, the band surprise released their debut Album, titled “_”.

Overview
“Never Trust The Living” `was written with the premise of Beetlejuice’s #1 rule: Never Trust The Living. The band applied that concept to the lyrics, with much of their substance referring to the political, religious, and/or self-inflicted turmoil of the world. “Creatures of Habit” was the first single of the EP, released on June 17th, 2022. “Cruella de Vil”, the second single from the EP, was announced on October 2nd, 2022, alongside the release date of the EP, December 16th. Cruella was released on October 28th, alongside it’s accompanying lyric video. On December 9th, 2022, the band released “B.E.E.R.” as the third single, as a way to promote the release of the EP the following week.
Writing Process
The EP was almost entirely written from the fall of 2021 to the summer of 2022, with “The Last Time” and “Cruella de Vil” having been initially written in 2020, for Structural Defect, and later finalized during the writing process for “Never Trust The Living”. The entire EP was self-produced and published, with programmed drums being used, due to the band not having a drummer until Dante’s arrival in June of 2022. Dante is still credited with drum performance despite not having written the material.
Re-recording and Release
On November 12th, 2027, the band announced that a full re-recording and release of their first EP, Titled “Never Trust the REDUX”, would be releasing on the 5-year anniversary of the EP. On this new version, every song had been re-recorded with new guitars, drums, new synths which were previously not in the songs provided by keyboardist Michael Nash, as well as featuring all-new vocals from new vocalist Joseph Sherwood. The cleans on “The Last Time” were re-sung by Damon. “The Last Time” also features harsh vocals from original co-writer and Structural Defect singer Aric MacDonald, while still featuring Josh Zalar during the solo section.

Overview
Fractured Fortune is the 2nd EP released by the band, and is the final release of the band, with Damon as the sole member of the EP. Damon decided to release the EP as a solo project due to wanting to focus on Structural and starting a different project that was more alternative metal.
Writing Process
The EP features the band’s first officially recorded cover, a cover of the song “Anemia” by Sincere Engineer. Damon has stated that the song is a favorite of his, and decided to cover the song after seeing the band perform live in Ithaca in September of 2025. The song is mostly reworked, with the intro being the only unchanged portion of the cover.
The EP also features writing credits from previous members Dante Lebron, Andrew Laffan and Brendan Curtis. Brendan features “Uprooted”, a song that was left from the “Never Trust The Living” sessions, while Laffan and Lebron feature on songs that were either written or re-worked from those sessions, or were brand new songs written for this record.
Josh Schirmer is featured as a writer and backing vocalist on the closing track, “Mindless Trepidation”. He and Damon co-wrote the song in 2020 during COVID, but it later became a song for Fractured Fortune. Josh was previously featured as a backing vocalist on the band’s “Never Trust The Living” EP, as a backing vocalist on the song “Tortured By The Blessed”.

Red’s Revenge is an American alternative metal band from Rochester, NY. The band started as a rap group in 2012, and quickly transitioned to a more traditional metal sound in 2013. The band was defunct from 2019 to 2028, after several years of unstable lineups, before being restarted by co-founder Damon Finegan in 2028.
Formation (2012-2013)
BreakDown Love was formed in Avon, NY in late November 2012 by Damon Finegan, Sean “Shades” Dempsey, Corbin “Corby” VanSon, and several rap vocalists: Joseph Gadomski, Graham Freeman, Garret Mack, Johnny Ceneviva. All of the rap vocalists dropped out shortly after reading Damon’s first couple of songs, which were heavy and very violent. So Damon, Corby, and Dempsey were left as a trio, and decided to make the band more rock oriented, instead of rap, with Corby as bass, keyboards and unclean vocals, Sean as guitars and vocals, and Damon as drums and lead vocals. Corby would drop shortly therafter due to personal issues. In early 2013, Allyson Carney, Luis Matos and Nathan Enright joined as lead vocals, bass and backing vocals, and guitars and backing vocals, respectively. Corbin also joined back for this short period, making the band 2 guitars, 2 basses, drums and 2 lead vocalists. Then, in March 2013, after 2 months, Allyson, Nathan, Luis, and Corby all left due to schedule conflicts with band meetings or personal issues, so Damon and Sean were left as a duo. In the summer of 2013, Damon asked his cousin Ashton Fantigrossi to do guitar for his band, and the band is now set for recording its debut album. At this time, they also decided to rename to BreakDown Love.
Love Isn’t Given, It’s Shared, 2nd Change in Style, Lineup issues (2013-2015)
In April 2013, after the lineup shift, Damon wrote a song entitled “Think Twice”, and Sean and Damon decided to record at least an EP with this and 2 other songs, but it never happened, due to Damon’s summer plans were booked until mid August. In late August 2013, Micah Bloom saw an ad on Craigslist Damon posted, wanting a drummer for the band, and called Damon to see if it was still open. However, Damon explained that he only wants to do live performances, as if he is full time, he would not be able to be in the studio due his side project, Forest242. Micah would be involved with the band until the following year, when he stepped away in May. In January 2014, Damon asked the band to be prepared for the summer and early fall 2014, as he hoped to record their debut album, Love Isn’t Given, It’s Shared. This never happened though, as in July, Sean would leave the band, leaving Damon the only remaining original member left. A month later, Ashton would also leave the band. A day later, the band brought in Jacob Mesi and Benjamin Scott to perform Lead Guitars and Keyboards respectively.
Continued Lineup issues, Breakup (2015-2019)
Throughout 2015, the band went through several member changes, including a brief stint with another female vocalist, Brittany Barnhardt, as well as bassist Damon Cassada, both of whom were quickly ousted from the band in June. Cassada was replaced by Daniel Desano a few days after his removal. Nathan Enright also rejoined the band for the summer before then leaving in August to go to college. Shortly before Nathan’s rejoining, Damon also began performing rhythm guitar duties, making the band a 3-guitar band for the first time. In February 2016, the band brought in 3 new members; guitarist KJ Haubner, drummer K. Hamler, and the band’s 3rd female vocalist in its history, Quinn Driscoll-Mathers. KJ and Hamler were let go within a month of joining, however, due to conflicts with one another. The band remained a 5-piece until June 27th, when Ben and Jacob both left the band, as they along with Damon had graduated high school, and were preparing for college. After this, the band remained unchanged, with no new members and minimal activity until April of 2018, when Damon asked Quinn and Daniel to leave the band, as both had become unavailable due to scheduling conflicts with either school or work. Damon would then briefly bring Mike Marion in to play drums, though would lose contact until 2020, when Damon joined Structural Defect. Shortly after Mike’s arrival, KJ Haubner returned, this time as lead guitar, and Josh Schirmer was brought in as rhythm guitar and backing vocals. In February 2019, Trevor Johnson was in talks with the band to provide drums, though no demoing ever happened, and the band was officially disbanded in July 2019.
