1908 memoir by Clifford W. Beers
A Mind That Found Itself is a 1908 memoir by Clifford W. Beers. In it, he outlines his experiences as a mentally ill person living in the United States and the treatment he suffered in a mental health facility in the early 20th century.
Beers describes himself as a shy child who grew up rather normally. Shortly after getting his high school diploma, his brother developed a serious illness, probably epilepsy, which causes him to become increasingly worried that he might develop the illness too.
