• TOR exit nodes, VPN, or an anonymizing proxy are blocked for all users, which is why WP:IP block exempt exists. Even though I’m an admin, I have to have global ip block exempt (on all wikis) because I don’t have a choice but to use VPNs as I live in a developing nation with questionable and sometimes sketchy infrastructure, else I would be blocked as well. You can request ip block exempt, but since your account is very new (7 edits as I write this), it won’t be automatic, if at all. You would need to explain (perhaps in private) the exact reasons why you must use a VPN. If you can simply disable the VPN while editing and there isn’t a more complicated reasons for using it, that would be the solution. Dennis Brown – 2¢ 12:03, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. How does blocking policy apply for an editor who has created a hoax? I’d like to report this new user [1] to ANI after they created a hoax within their first ten edits [2]. I don’t think anything good can be expected from this person. However I couldn’t find anything specific on Wikipedia policy. Is one offense of hoax writing enough for sanction? One hoax is sufficient for a report at ANI. However, first there must be a good faith discussion at the user’s talk with, say, 48 hours for them to respond saying why they thought the article was reasonable. Johnuniq (talk) 04:03, 10 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi everyone! I just added a new subsection to the “Implementing blocks“ section of this Wikipedia page. In a nutshell, it summarizes and explains the new changes regarding temporary accounts and how they work, and includes a table that summarizes how each block type affects temporary accounts and permanent accounts. I wanted to start a talk page discussion and let everyone know, as well as get any kind of input or feedback about it.
